Volunteer Opportunities Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Saint Paul Public Schools.
The following list highlights examples of current volunteer opportunities (updated October 2007) in some of our schools. If you would like to find out more about a specific opportunity, you can call or e-mail the contact provided in the listing. Please note that some of the information may have changed since these items were originally posted and that other schools have similar and additional needs, though they are not listed here. You can also complete a volunteer application on-line. Four Seasons A+ Elementary needs volunteers to meet with the same student once a week during lunch time (for 30 minutes), to read to the student and let them read to you. Nokomis Montessori: The Reading Buddies Program is a lunchtime program designed to help improve the literacy skills of students. The student meets with their mentor once a week, for 30 minutes. Phalen Lake Elementary is looking for volunteers to work with students in grades Kindergarten through 6th to provide one-on-one and small group tutoring and classroom-observation during of the school day and the after school program. Tutors will predominately be focusing on reading and math skills. Positions available during the school day are between 8:20 AM - 2:45 PM Monday - Friday. Positions with the after school program are available from 2:50 - 4:50 PM Monday- Thursday. Prosperity Heights Elementary needs a bilingual Spanish volunteer who could come one or more mornings or one or more afternoons to work with 4-year-old children in a classroom setting.
